knoxville nativity pageant

As part of the celebration of Knoxville's "Christmas in the City," the Knoxville Nativity Pageant will perform for the 42nd year a pageant depicting the Christmas Story.

The combination of realistic settings, effective lighting, real animals, orchestral and choral music, and authentic costumes produces a powerful and dramatic hour-long presentation of the Christmas story – a story that is eternally the same, but always new. It appeals to audiences of all ages. Many families come again and again, making it part of their own Christmas tradition. The Pageant is thrilling to those who attend and also to those who work to create it each year.

The Nativity Pageant involves hundreds of volunteers from the Knoxville area in a professionally directed pantomime drama. The Pageant combines a cast of 90 fully costumed adults adn children, moving narration, realistic sets, authentic costumes, and live animals to create a beautiful and powerful presentation of the Christmas story. A 200-voice choir, accompanied by a 20-member orchestra, provides music.

The soloist for the pageant this year is Elizabeth Attaway; accompanist is Dorothy Bryson; narrators are Marcia Mary Cook and Tom Miller. This 1 hour presentation at the Knoxville Coliseum on December 12-14th is free and open to the public. www.knoxvillenativity.com
