SEVIERVILLE, TN - The City of Sevierville has taken a firm stand on maintaining the safety and quality of life for its residents and visitors by canceling the October 5 portion of the Slammedenuff car show. This decision, grounded in a commitment to public welfare, stems from escalating disturbances and ongoing safety concerns that have strained local resources throughout the weekend event.
While privately organized, the ramifications of the Slammedenuff show have proven to be unsustainable. Residents have experienced heightened traffic disruptions, reckless behavior, and disturbances long into the night, all contributing to an environment that is no longer tenable for our community. As stewards of Sevierville, it is our duty to ensure the well-being of all who call this city home, as well as those who come to visit.
Effective immediately, the city has enacted a zero-tolerance policy towards any nuisance activities, unsafe driving, or disorderly conduct linked to this event or similar gatherings in the future. "Any infractions will face stringent enforcement of local laws and ordinances. We expect everyone remaining in the area for the event to leave calmly and lawfully," said a city official.
In addition, the city is launching a thorough evaluation of the overall impact of this event, with a keen focus on its feasibility moving forward at the Sevierville Convention Center. Any potential resumption of the car show will depend heavily on concrete improvements in oversight and participant behavior.
"We appreciate the understanding of our residents, guests, and business community as we act decisively to maintain safety, order, and the quality of life that Sevierville is known for," stated a representative from the city. This proactive approach underscores our unwavering commitment to fostering a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.
