SEVIERVILLE, TN – On the evening of October 7, 2025, a significant medical incident occurred at the Sevier County Jail involving several female inmates. Staff members became concerned after observing unusual behavior and an unusual congregation among inmates in one of the housing units. Upon further investigation, correctional officers noted that some inmates displayed symptoms indicative of potential drug exposure.

In response to these alarming signs, emergency medical assistance was called to the facility. Subsequently, all inmates who exhibited possible signs of drug exposure were transported to a medical facility for thorough evaluation and treatment. Fortunately, upon release from medical care, the conditions of all affected inmates were reported to be stable, alleviating initial concerns regarding their health.

In light of these events, the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office has launched a preliminary investigation aimed at uncovering how illegal substances were introduced into the jail environment. Investigators have focused on inmate Keely Blair Flasher, 39, who has been charged with Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Facility and Criminal Conspiracy.

Sheriff Michael R. Hodges, Jr. emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating, “We are actively conducting a comprehensive investigation and taking all necessary measures to identify all those responsible. Additional charges are pending, and we will release further information as it becomes available.” This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by correctional facilities in preventing drug infiltration and ensuring the safety and well-being of inmates and staff alike.
