Stuff the Bus donation drive supports Fulton High School students

School supply drive scheduled for July 28 in Broadway Shopping Center

KNOXVILLE – Members of Knoxville City Council, the North Knoxville Business and Professional Association and several North Knoxville merchants are joining forces to support Fulton High School students on tax free Saturday.

Donations will be collected at the yellow school bus parked next to Suntrust Bank at Broadway Shopping Center, 2001 North Broadway. The event will take place on Saturday, July 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Tax Free Saturday).

Requested donations include pencils, pens, highlighters, dry erase markers, binder clips, paper clips, notecards, folders, binders, spiral notebooks, copy paper, backpacks, sling backpacks, headphones, tissues, hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes.

Council representatives Andrew Roberto (2nd District), Lauren Rider (4th District) and Mark Campen (5th District) organized the donation drive after learning that some students will go without supplies this upcoming school year. Council members are partnering with North Knoxville Business and Professional Association, Fulton High School staff, and Broadway Shopping Center merchants to collect and organize donations.

“Education is critical to the success of our city and our students can’t do their best without the school supplies they need.” said organizer Andrew Roberto. “We encourage the greater Knoxville community to join us in supporting Fulton High School this tax free weekend.”

Donated items will be distributed to students by Fulton High School directly. Organizers encourage potential donors to purchase items from merchants located within the Broadway Shopping Center in support of the Broadway corridor.
