Wilderness at the Smokies invests $1.23 million in new attractions and amenities

SEVIERVILLE, TN – Wilderness at the Smokies, Tennessee’s Largest Waterpark Resort & Family Adventure Center, has invested $1.3 million dollars in expanded amenities and attractions at the popular Lake Wilderness Outdoor Waterpark. A new children’s splash, play and slide attraction, VIP climate controlled cabanas, new bar and snack shack, and a state of the art outdoor sound system will debut Memorial Day Weekend. Located in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in Sevierville, the resort has a natural mountain backdrop which enhances its beauty.

An Outdoor Oasis for the Little Ones
There is no shortage of thrilling waterslides and attractions at Wilderness at the Smokies. This summer, Treehouse Springs will make its debut at Lake Wilderness Outdoor Waterpark as a fully themed children’s water fun zone. Designed specifically for the youngest of waterpark enthusiasts, the zero depth entry wading pool features more than eight water features including sprinklers, bubblers, geyser jets, waterfall splashes, dumping buckets, and interactive antiquities galore. Centrally located, a tree-house tower with three slides offer hours of fun and exploration, where the younger kids can have a blast, far from the older daredevils. Parents can comfortably keep a watchful eye on their children and soak up sun from the newly expanded chaise lounge deck.

Climate Controlled VIP Cabanas – Oh My!
This summer, nine new private, cabin-esque, climate-controlled, poolside VIP cabanas will debut at Lake Wilderness Outdoor Waterpark. Guests can assert a “home-base” for the day at one of the new state-of-the-art cabanas, each equipped with a flat-screen television, ceiling fan, luxury-comfort furniture, air-conditioning, refrigerator and lush towels. Poolside attendants will cater to the cabana guests’ every need with beverage and menu service. Due to popular demand, the new VIP Cabanas join 14 existing cabanas that feature all the same great amenities, but are not climate-controlled.

Belly up to the Beautiful New Bar
Beat the Tennessee heat at the new Shakers at the Lake for a cold beverage and snacks. Kids, and kids at heart, can refuel with a quick snack between waterslides at the new bar and snack shack centrally located at Lake Wilderness Outdoor Waterpark. The U-shaped bar welcomes guests 21 and older to pull up a chair and enjoy a cold beer or pina colada while they check the score on their favorite sports event featured on the flat screen TV’s. Shakers at the Lake joins Blue Gills Cove as a second option for refreshments and a bite to eat.

Wilderness at the Smokies’ two seasonal outdoor waterparks and 84-degree year-round indoor waterpark are exclusive to overnight guests. Salamander Springs Outdoor Waterpark is open weekends prior to Memorial Day Weekend, when it will open fully for the summer season, weather permitting, Due to the renovations, Lake Wilderness Outdoor Waterpark will not open until Memorial Day Weekend.
