KNOXVILLE -- Tennessee Children’s Home, located on Harold Duncan Way in the Karns Community, recently had a “Blessing and Ground Breaking Ceremony” to build two more group homes and a school building with administrative offices. Tennessee Children’s Home began in 1909 in Columbia, TN. They now have campuses in West TN, North Central TN, Spring Hill TN and East TN.
The Children’s Home was asked by the State of Tennessee to provide more facilities in order to accommodate more children. Tennessee Children’s Home provides physical, social, emotional, spiritual and educational needs for the youth they serve. The children live in on-site homes with other children and with House Parents. Residential care is structured to help the children be successful, with an on-site school, tutoring services, church attendance, counseling services, and substance abuse counseling.
Dr. Joe Johnson, President Emeritus of UT, was the key note speaker. He entertained attendees with his usual humor and wit and willingness to help.
