Derek Dooley and Bruce Pearl mansions on the market

By Jeaneane Payne

Derek Dooley’s run as head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers football team may have been a short sprint, but he lived big during his time in Knoxville. Headed to the Lone Star State to help coach the Dallas Cowboys, Dooley is closing the door on his Rocky Top adventure after listing his 17-acre spread in Knox County for $2.9 million.

Property records indicate that Dooley and his wife, Allison, originally purchased the property, described in the listing as a “rare treasure,” for $2.24 million in early 2010. Featuring a wealth of privacy and pristine views of the Smoky Mountains, the brick-lined manse weighs in at just over 8,818 square feet and offers five bedrooms to go along with 8 bathrooms. Wood built-ins and detailed crown molding highlight the interior’s many fine details, while amenities range from a stately office to a recently remodeled chef’s kitchen to a man cave that goes the distance with movie room, poker table and wet bar. Outside, a patio with an outdoor kitchen is complemented by an infinity pool and a recessed basketball court.

Dooley's mansion is listed with Richard Smith of Dean-Smith Realty in Knoxville.

Bruce Pearl’s Knoxville mansion is still on the market. Pearl, who presided over Tennessee’s men’s basketball program from 2005-2011, currently asks $2.425 million for the 10,200-square-foot estate he once referred to as his “dream home.” Bruce Pearl has lowered the price from $2.69 million.

Pearl, currently moonlighting as a vice president of marketing for a local wholesale grocery business, is still looking for a buyer and has re-listed the upscale home. Located in the affluent West Knoxville community of Gettysvue, the French Country-style estate boasts a total of five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and eight fireplaces. Set on 1.2 acres, the property has a media room, gym and library, but the real all-star amenity is a packed backyard featuring a pool with a water slide, pool house, and outdoor kitchen.

The mansion is listed with Celebrity Realty.
