The DINER, located on Highway 66 in Sevierville, is host for the annual Shamrock Saturday Cruisin' for Food.

SEVIERVILLE, TN -- On Saturday, March 16, cruisers will have an opportunity to help stock the pantries of Sevier County Food Ministries and Wears Valley Ranch.

The DINER, located on Highway 66 in Sevierville, will once again host The Shamrock Saturday Cruisin' for Food. Beginning at 12:00 noon vehicles will begin cruising from Smokies Stadium to THE DINER where trucks will be waiting to receive the food and transport donations to the two pantries. The majority of the food will go to Sevier County Food Ministries as they serve the broader needs of the community.

THE DINER will contribute $1 for every beverage purchased with a meal during breakfast and the cruise in. At 2:00 p.m. THE DINER will hold drawings for special prizes and coupons for participants.

To participate, drive your classic car, truck or bike (or your everyday “driver”) to Smokies Stadium @ I-40 & Highway 66, bring a bag of groceries, preferably canned or boxed (non-perishables), then join the Caravan Cruise to THE DINER on Hwy 66.

Monetary donations can be made directly to these two Sevier County ministries.

Five years ago the Sevier County Food Ministries, an emergency food resource for people experiencing a food shortage was serving about 800 families every week, last year the need was at about 1,300 families. In late January the number of families served grew to over 1,500 per week. Churches and religious organizations have seen significant increases in the past two years as well, so the need is great. Making matters worse this year, the flooding in Knoxville last week which affected Second Harvest hurt this food ministry and all others in the region.

Wears Valley Ranch is a Christian home and school for children from crisis family situations.

If you cannot cruise from Smokies Stadium, food donations can be made on March 15 or 16 at THE DINER.
