Fat boys helping hungry Knoxvillians

KNOXVILLE -- In East Tennessee, 1 in 5 of our neighbors go hungry at night. Today, in our community a staggering 200,000 people are at risk of hunger. That is why the FAT Boys are at it again! It's a Dozen Cousin!!

The 12th Annual FAT Boys Against Hunger Golf Tournament is scheduled for Thursday May 17, 2012 at Egwani Farms Golf Course in Rockford, Tennessee.

According to Ray Wells, Sertoma Club President, "The need is greater now than ever before. In this economy, even working families are struggling to put food on their tables. Second Harvest's Food for Kids program and their Elder Food program help support our families. So we must support Second Harvest."

The FAT Boys Tournament adds a UT letterman as a fifth golfer on each four person Scramble. Event prizes include the Longest Drive, Closest to Pin and the Hole-in-One Fat Bay Harley Davidson!

The event kicks off with registration and a putting contest at 11:00 a.m., followed by lunch and then a shotgun start at 1:00. Dinner, awards and a silent auction culminate the days event's at 6:00.

Entry fee for golfers is $200. Sponsorship levels to get your company name in front of area business people on course signs or flags begin at $300 and range to main tournament sponsorships at $10,000 to place two teams and host the 19th Hole Celebration.

The University Area Sertoma started this Tournament in 2000. Over $500k has been raised in prior tournaments. All proceeds benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of East TN.
