Wyndham Worldwide purchases three vacation rental management companies in Smoky Mountains
By Jeaneane Payne
Wyndham Worldwide has purchased three vacation rental management companies in the Smoky Mountain area; Legacy Resort, Sugar Maple Cabins, and Majestic Mountain Vacations owned by Rod Thompson of Knoxville.
The Knoxville Daily Sun spoke with Danielle Galioto of Wyndham's corporate office who stated "The purchase of these properties fits in with our US expansion plans. We are not currently in the Smoky Mountain area and wanted to be part of accommodating guests visiting America's most visited national park."
Wyndham has over 95,000 vacation rentals worldwide.
Galioto said, "We found great, upscale accommodations in the management properties we purchased in the Smoky Mountain area and are excited about adding them to our inventory."
Negotiations had been in the making for several months for the purchase of Cabin Fever Vacations by Wyndham. Cabin Fever is located in Pigeon Forge and is one of the area's largest vacation rental management companies. However, 24-hours before the contract was to be executed, Wyndham withdrew their offer. Scott Rice, Manager of Cabin Fever Vacations said "Wyndham wanted to get their foot in the door with a strongly developed company that had a large inventory and move quickly from there. With one purchase they could gather a larger amount of inventory so they went with another company."
