OLIVER SPRINGS, TN -- Oliver Springs, Tennessee will be the last stop for The Patriot Flag which has toured the United States to honor those fallen on 9/11. The Patriot Flag is also a tribute to armed forces, first and second responders, and to all of the families of the 9/11 victims. The Flag further represents the resolve of Americans and our quest to live free.
The 30 x 56 foot flag weighs 75 pounds and will arrive at Beech Park Church in Oliver Springs on Thursday, September 22 at 10:30 a.m. The East Tennessee ceremony will conclude the flag's tour of 50 states in 50 days.
The Patriot Flag will be hosted and hoisted by the local Disabled American Veterans Chapter #26 with the 278th Tennessee Army National Guard assisting to escort the flag. The event will be hosted by retired New York Fireman Lieutenant Joe Torrillo who survived the collapse of both World Trade Center Towers 1 and 2.
The Patriot Flag was donated to the World Memorial in Escondido, California and evolved into a national project of patriotism. It is a testament to what happened on 9/11/2001 and how we responded as a nation on 9/12 and the days that followed.
