Work on the Henley Bridge project is continuing and is on schedule. TDOT says the demolition work is near completion, and repair work is also ongoing.
Bridge contractor Britton Bridge, LLC has crews working on the initial reconstruction phases on each end of the bridge. In the near future, resurrection of the new bridge is expected to be noticeable.
The Henley Bridge was closed on January 3, 2011 for reconstruction. The contractor has dismantled the structure down to the concrete arches and is carefully reconstructing the bridge. The cost for the reconstruction project is $24,696,969.
The scheduled completion date is June 30, 2013; however, the contractor has been offered bonuses for early completion. If the bridge is completed by December 31, 2012, Britton Bridge will receive a $1,000,000 bonus.
