Today, We Remember

Today we remember those killed or wounded in wars. We honor our fallen U.S. soldiers along with civilians killed or wounded in those wars. We are grateful for the sacrifices they made for our freedom. We are grateful for the sacrifices their families made.

War Casualties:
• The American Revolution: 50,000 Americans dead or wounded
• War of 1812: 7,181; 4,505 wounded
• The Civil War: 618,000 to 700,000 deaths
• World War I: 37.5 million military and civilian casualties; 16.5 million deaths, 21 million wounded
• World War II: 60 million people killed
• Korean War: 1,187,682-1,545,822
• Vietnam War: 1,912,846-3,992,846
• The Gulf War: 20,000-35,000 killed
• September 11 Attacks: 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, 184 people at the Pentagon; 2,752 altogether at the World Trade Center; 246 on the four hijacked planes
• The Iraq War: 1,220,580 (according to Opinion Research Business survey
)
