This morning Madeline Rogero released her 2nd quarter financial statement.

For the period between April 1, 2011 and June 30, 2011 Rogero collected nearly $64,000 from 448 supporters. Her total for the campaign is $160,411 and she now has $86,812 on hand.

Again, she collected a lot of smaller contributions with an average of $193.00 each. This fact reflects a lot of support from the lower-income people, artists, youth, and retired community.

The question now becomes – What percentage of the contributors and the people they represent will get out and vote? The three voter bases notorious for NOT showing up at the polls are; low-income residents, the African-American voter, and the young voter. Has this changed in the past 4 years? Is Rogero's presence and campaign strong enough to stress the urgency of every single vote?

Many people still don't know the following state law. Since many of Rogero's supporters will be affected by their employment it would be a good time to enlighten or remind them.

Employees who begin their work day less than 3 hours after polls open and finish less than 3 hours before polls close are entitled to up to 3 hours paid leave to vote. The employee must request leave by noon the day before Election Day. The employer can set the time for leave to vote.

The number of smaller contributors does not tell the complete story. Rogero has support from all walks of life. All said and done 16% of Rogero's contributions are over $250.00 for perhaps the most well balanced and represented campaign.
