January 8, 2011

WASHINGTON -- President Obama has renominated U.S. District Court Judge Bernice Donald to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. On December 1st, U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander released the following statement after Judge Donald's initial nomination to the Sixth Circuit:

"I congratulate Judge Donald on being nominated by the president to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit after nearly 30 years on the bench as a state and federal judge, and I look forward to meeting with her as the confirmation process moves forward."

Nominations pending at the end of a Congress are returned to the President, and they must be resubmitted for the Senate to reconsider them. Pursuant to the Senate Rules, Judge Donald's nomination was returned to the White House on December 22nd when the Senate adjourned for the year.
