The Henley Bridge will continue to be closed for approxmately 23 to 29 months for an extensive bridge rehabilitation project.

Demolition started on Friday, January 14.

Water and gas line adjustments and relocation work is complete on the north end of the bridge in the intersection of Henley Street and Hill Avenue. Demolition on the north end is nearing completion and night work is subsiding. The contractor has started to remove railing and overhang concrete on the bridge deck. Reconstruction of the concrete supports is continuing in the approach span of the south end of the bridge.

Traffic counts and signal timing adjustments at the various detour route intersections is still on-going, and is expected to be complete by the end of February.

Due to unforeseen underground conditions, completion of the water and gas line adjustments in the Chapman/Blount intersection are being delayed. Once the problem is corrected, work will be completed and asphalt placed.

Detour maps and Henley brochures are available at the Henley Bridge Community Center at 220 East Blount Avenue, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. For more information and to watch construction on the project, you can visit www.tn.gov/henley or follow the project at twitter.com/Henley Bridge.
