Plateau Discovery Gardens plans foodscaping fundraiser

KNOXVILLE ­– Growing edible plants in the backyard? Enjoy foodscapes more than landscapes? Then be sure to attend the University of Tennessee Gardens, Crossville, foodscaping fundraiser on September 8.

Hosted and benefiting the Plateau Discovery Gardens, also known as the UT Gardens, Crossville, this event will bring Brie Arthur, bestselling author of The Foodscape Revolution, to share about foodscaping 101. Arthur focuses on easy ways to grow bounty and beauty, including sustainable strategies to utilize the space around homes for nourishment as well as artistry. Arthur has a decade of experience working as a grower and propagator at leading nurseries.

The fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, September 8, starting at 11a.m. CDT. Tickets are $25 per person and seating is limited for this event. The deadline to purchase tickets is September 1. Ticket purchases include refreshments and cold beverages, catered by Dean Towers, chef and Cumberland County master gardener.

The UT Gardens, Crossville: Plateau Discovery Gardens is located at 320 Experiment Station Road just off of US-70N W.

The UT Gardens includes plant collections located in Knoxville, Jackson and Crossville. Designated as the official botanical garden for the State of Tennessee, the collections are part of the UT Institute of Agriculture. The Gardens’ mission is to foster appreciation, education, and stewardship of plants through garden displays, educational programs and research trials.
