5KRunDead to benefit UT BMES and Pond Gap Elementary School

KNOXVILLE -- “Calling all Walking Dead fans!” 5KRunDead is a national zombie-infested charity 5K fun run happening in 5 cities across the U.S. at the beginning of October. 100% of proceeds from each location are to benefit local schools and scientific research on cancer and Alzheimer's disease. Why zombies and why now? Because, zombies love brains and so does the 5KRunDead. The event will be held on Saturday, October 4 at Victor Ashe Park in north Knoxville.

You can register your team online at www.5KRunDead.com.

Sign up as either a human or a zombie to help support the University of Tennessee’s Biomedical Engineering Society and Pond Gap Elementary School.

Runners will endure a 5K run through a zombie-infested course. Test your speed, endurance, and strength while trying to avoid ravenous zombies. Runners will have flags that represent their health. Zombies will try to steal those flags. Runners must make it to the finish line with at least one flag or become one of the walking dead! Prizes will be awarded for runners and zombies. A fun zombie-themed movie (Zombieland) will be shown outdoors afterwards, complete with food vendors. Bring your chairs and blankets.
