Nature's Way Montessori School is hosting its second annual "Montessori Journey" to raise public awareness about its teaching methods and area schools.

Adult members of the community will have an opportunity to experience firsthand the child-centered, one-on-one approach which was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori nearly 100 years ago. Dr. Montessori was the first female physician in Italy.

The Montessori approach has implemented innovations that are now considered to be on the cutting edge of today's school reform movement including multi-age groupings, a rich and extensive curriculum carried out with hands-on materials, cross-discipline learning, and care of the global environment.

Participants will get an overview of Montessori education and spend time in each classroom from Toddler through Middle School. They will also have an opportunity to work with the same materials that the children use on a daily basis. The same guidelines that are used during the school day will apply to the Montessori Journey: Work peacefully; Respect others and the environment; Work with a lesson as long as you would like; Work independently or in small groups.

The event is free and open to the public. It will be held on Saturday February 11th from 1 pm to 4:30 p.m. at the school. Nature's Way Montessori School is located at 4710 Murphy Road, Knoxville TN 37918.
