Text Messaging Being Used to Teach High School Students

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- As high school students across the country gear up for the onslaught of spring college admissions tests, one company has helped take the sting out of studying. eTextPrep, a new educational vocabulary and test prep service, capitalizes on a teen's favorite activity and utilizes text messaging to teach.

eTextPrep delivers college prep study material directly to a student's cell phone and is designed to help students improve vocabulary skills, score higher on the SAT, ACT and Advanced Placement exams and raise their overall GPAs. Learning programs from eTextPrep cost $7.99 per month on the subscriber's cell phone bill and range in length from four months to one year.

"The concept is simple - students receive 2 to 3 text messages per day that contain essential SAT/ACT, AP or Middle School Challenge vocabulary words, their definitions and parts of speech," said Lynne Anderson, Founder and CEO of eTextPrep. "Students simply open, look and learn. It's mobile. It works."

"Unlike a mobile phone app, eTextPrep is a learning service. Study material is texted automatically to the student at scheduled times. And, the service works for all types of mobile phones – not just smart phones."

For added reinforcement, eTextPrep emails students and parents the Weekly Word Review™. This study guide summarizes the previous weeks' words, their definitions and parts of speech, and includes an example sentence for enhanced understanding. As an added benefit, eTextPrep texts a "Test Tip" to each student every Friday during the subscription.

There are several eTextPrep vocabulary learning programs available including the SAT/ACT Vocab Prep, the Middle School Challenge, and several Advanced Placement Reviews which include learning programs for AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP English Literature & Composition, AP Language & Composition, AP Psychology, AP Spanish Language, AP U.S. Government & Politics and AP U.S. History. eTextPrep's educational content has been designed by highly experienced and nationally recognized educators and adheres to rigorous course standards.

eTextPrep is a new text messaging company specializing in SAT, ACT, Advanced Placement and Middle School vocabulary learning programs. Lynne R. Anderson, President & CEO, founded eTextPrep in 2009. The venture is privately held and is currently based in Hilton Head, South Carolina. For more information, visit www.etextprep.com
