Recycles Day in Blount County

MARYVILLE -- In conjunction with America Recycles Day, Keep Blount Beautiful is hosting Blount County Recycles Day on Saturday, November 19, 2011 from 10 am - 2 pm. The event will be held at the Maryville Greenbelt Bicentennial Park Pavilion, located behind the Blount County Courthouse. (This is not a household hazardous waste collection event).

The event will offer on-site recycling and local recycling information booths.

Recycling on site includes:

• Spectra Recycling: Computers/electronics, secure document collection and all sizes of fluorescent bulbs ($1 fee for each bulb)
• The License Plate Man: Used license plates
• Hearing and Speech Foundation: Used hearing aids
• The Lions Club: Eyeglasses
• Keep Blount Beautiful: Cell phones & any energy, protein, cereal, granola, nutrition bar wrappers with foil lining.
• Blount County Fire Department: Used clean coats for the Coats for the Community.
• Knoxville Recycling Coalition: Styrofoam Recycling Bags on sale for $5, also receive a free recycling guide.
• TN Valley Earth Partnership: Mercury thermometer exchange, bring in an old mercury thermometer and receive a new digital one.
• Harmony Adoptions: Shovels, rakes, hammers, screwdrivers, saw's, small tools of any kind, pool chemicals, brooms, mops, dustpans, buckets, working vacuums, heavy duty hoses, sprinklers, work gloves, paint brushes, power washer and more.

Keep Blount Beautiful emphasized that this is not a household hazardous waste collection event.
