Can pizza cause cancer? Do carrots really help your eyesight?

Knox County Health Department and Knox County Public Library have teamed up to offer Health Bites, a bi-weekly lunch and learn series on good health. Health Bites will offer good tips and easy to follow guidelines to stay healthy throughout the year at various library locations.

The series begins at noon on Tuesday, January 11 at Lawson McGhee Library with a discussion of the relationship between nutrition and health. The free presentation will include a healthy lunch, so please register by calling (865) 215-5160.

The series will continue at noon every other week through March. Upcoming topics include:

Healthy Ways to Reduce Stress: strategies for coping with stress
January 25 at Burlington Branch Library

Exercise 101: learn about the basics of exercise and how it benefits your body
February 8 at Fountain City Branch Library

The Importance of Flexibility: why being flexible is so important throughout your lifeā€¦and how to keep it!
February 23 at Farragut Branch Library

Nutrition for Chronic Disease Prevention:
how eating healthfully helps prevent heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers
March 10 at Carter Branch Library

Growing Healthy Kids: why nutritious food and physical activity are so important for our children
March 22 at Halls Branch Library
