Fountain City Art Center Extends Call to Artists

The Fountain City Art Center invites all artists in all 2-D and 3-D media to enter the upcoming 6th Annual FCAC Open Show. The show is set for June 17 through July 15, 2011.

Entries will be accepted June 13 and 14, 10 AM - 5 PM. All artists in every media are eligible to enter the judged and juried show, prizes from $50 to $200. FCAC membership is not required.

The Fountain City Art Center (FCAC) offers a venue for area artists, art groups, performing artists and young students to exhibit their work, attend meetings, classes, workshops, lectures and demonstrations, and to find inspiration from one another.

The center conducts art classes and workshops in a wide variety of media. Located in the old library building at 213 Hotel Avenue next to the Fountain City Park, FCAC enriches the culture of North Knoxville.

Classes are provided in children's art for ages 6-12 and clay for children 8 and up.

The attention for adults is focused on watercolor, oils, various drawing disciplines, bookmaking, oil pastels, clay, bookmaking, and fused glass jewelry.  Classes are held every day except Sunday and include some evenings.  The center periodically offers special workshops in mixed media, bookmaking, and soft pastels.

The Art Center offers professional-quality year-round exhibits with no admission charged.  Public viewing hours are Tuesday and Thursday 9-5; Wednesday and Friday 10-5; and Saturdays 9-1.  Knox County Schools Student Exhibits are featured during the school year.

The Fountain City Art Center is a wonderful cultural and educational resource in the Knoxville area.
