The Appalachian Ballet presents The Nutcracker

The Appalachian Ballet Company in their 39th season will present the annual holiday tradition - The Nutcracker. This production is the only Nutcracker in Knoxville and Maryville with live music by the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. The Appalachian Ballet Company will present four public shows December 4th at 8 pm & December 5th at 2 pm at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium AND December 11th at 2pm and 8pm at the new Clayton Center for the Arts in Maryville. All public shows will have live music. Special full-length school matinees at Knoxville Civic Auditorium are December 2nd & 3rd at 10:00am. Ticket prices for these shows only are $6.00. Guest artists Kylie Morton, formerly with North Carolina Dance Theatre and Adam Schiffer from the Carolina Ballet will be dancing the roles of the Sugarplum Fairy and the Nutcracker Prince the first weekend. For the second weekend, Ms.Morton will be partnered by Aaron Smyth of the American Ballet Theatre II for the Maryville production.

The Nutcracker is a wonderful way to ring in the holidays and introduce young children to the power and beauty of classical ballet. For over 100 years, this story has proven to be a favorite, enchanting audiences of all ages.
