KNOXVILLE - Holiday traditions ensue in downtown Knoxville on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, as the Holidays on Ice open-air ice skating rink opens and celebrants light the Christmas tree in Krutch Park during Regal Celebration of Lights.

Holidays on Ice, presented by Home Federal Bank, opens for the season on Market Square at 10 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. The rink will be open daily (except during inclement weather) through Jan. 2, 2024.

Admission ($12 per adult; $9 children 12 and under) includes entry fee, skate rental and unlimited time on the ice. Tickets can be purchased at the admission booth using cash, Visa or Mastercard. Individual tickets and season passes ($50 per adult; $35 children 12 and under) are available for purchase online. Group rates are available to parties of 20 or more people.

Regal Celebration of Lights will be held Friday, Nov. 24, in Krutch Park Extension, Market Square and Market Street. This free event begins at 5:15 p.m. with live music from the Mikki Norwood Band, followed at 6 p.m. by the official lighting of the City’s 42-foot tree.

Guests are invited to enjoy free activities, crafts and hot cocoa and visit the miniature train set on Market Street. Mikki Norwood Band will play a second set from 6:45 to 9 p.m. on the Market Square stage.

Event attendees and downtown neighbors should be aware of temporary parking restrictions and road closures. On-street parking in these areas will be temporarily unavailable starting at 9 a.m., and the following streets will be closed from approximately 2 - 10 p.m.:

• Union Avenue between Walnut and Gay streets
• Market Street between Church and Union avenues
• Clinch Avenue between Walnut & Gay streets

Gay Street between Summit Hill and Church avenues will be closed approximately 4:45 - 9:15 p.m. Access to Gay Street hotels will be maintained via Summit Hill Drive, State Street and Clinch Avenue.





Parking is free in all City-owned garages after 6 p.m. on weekdays and throughout the weekend, except for specific special events.
