USA TODAY network’s Storytellers Project announces 2022 season
January 17, 2022

The new year brings a return to in-person storytelling events in 17 cities across the U.S.

The Storytellers Project, part of Gannett and the USA TODAY Network, announces its 2022 season with more than 60 in-person shows at venues across the United States, from Indianapolis, to Austin, Texas, and in 15 other cities.

“We’re excitedly, cautiously, stepping back out on stage for stories this year,” said Megan Finnerty, founder and director of the Storytellers Project. “Storytellers Project audiences are the best, the energy in the room is incredible, and no honor tops having them back with us.”

Each Storytellers Project show features stories people in the community coached by USA TODAY Network journalists, and showcases a diverse mix of storytellers sharing entertaining, illuminating stories for about an hour.

Members of the community can answer the call to “tell a story” by completing the form at storytellerproject.com/tell.

Tickets are available starting at $8 at storytellersproject.com.

In addition, Supporter tickets can be purchased to support the project in the community. Supporters receive recognition throughout the season in the program, as well as two tickets to every storytelling night in their city during the season and additional Storytellers Project swag.

Knoxville Storytellers Project Events Details:
Four shows are planned at Schulz Brau Brewing Company on March 7, June 6, Sept. 12 and Nov. 13. Doors at 6:30 p.m. and show at 7 p.m. Purchase tickets here.

More on Storytellers Project
Storytellers Project is a nationwide series of live storytelling nights in which neighbors and notables share true, first-person stories. These events combine oral storytelling and journalism to reflect and serve communities, as well as to develop connection and empathy in them. Journalists from USA TODAY Network newsrooms manage and host these nights in front of audiences of 75 to 1,200. The series has more than 60 nights in 2022, at venues ranging from Black Box Center for the Arts @ The Kelsey Theater in Palm Beach, to Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines and the Muhammed Ali Center in Louisville.

Themes include growing up, neighbors, food and family, and holidays.

Storytellers Project celebrates the idea that when we share our stories, we become emotionally and financially invested in one another and in our community.
