Scruffy City Veganfest is back at World’s Fair Park Performance Lawn!

KNOXVILLE -- On Sunday, November 20, 2022, Scruffy City Veganfest will be back in Knoxville. The event promotes vegan-friendly businesses and organizations’ resources in the Knoxville area and beyond. Knoxville is an up-and-coming city, along with the state of TN, for veganism and a plant-based lifestyle. This event is produced by the group behind Vegfest Expos and Triangle Vegfest, a 501(c)3 nonprofit based out of Wake Forest, NC. This festival is presented by Cows Come Home Farm Sanctuary, a sanctuary for over 50 cows located in Talbott, TN.

Festival-goers will have the opportunity to enjoy plant-based culinary delights, samples, and giveaways from vendors such as sponsor Superieur Electrolytes, Imagine Vegan Cafe, Viet Grill, and Green Heron Compost while listening to live music, and the children play in our Family Fun Zone. Over 40 vendors will bring various animal-friendly wellness and beauty products, apparel, health services, educational resources, and more. New this year is education on the amphitheater stage. An incredible line up of educators include Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Milton Mills, MD, Shayla Toombs-Withers, DO, Jay Vanlandingham, and locally known emcee and host Allyson Spellman. The speakers start at 10 am and go through 4 pm.

In 2021, the festival was held on a very hot August day, so this year the hope is for cooler weather. “We have 7 food trucks this year”, Event Producer Helene Greenberg shares. “The best way to vegfest is to bring a bunch of people and try all the food.”

Scruffy City Veganfest will take place, rain or shine, from 10 am – 4 pm on the Performance Lawn at World’s Fair Park, 963 World's Fair Park Drive, SW, Knoxville, TN 37916. Parking is on 11th Street across from the venue in the garage.

Admission is $10 ahead of the event and is encouraged to help vendors gauge how much to bring/prepare; $15 at the door. College students/over 65/military are $5. Children with an adult paid admission are free. For $20, you can get a VIP ticket and receive an upgraded reusable goodie bag filled with samples, coupons, free product coupons, and more, 25 entries into our raffle, and first entry to the venue at 9:30 am giving an extra 30 minutes to shop and eat. The VIP bags are limited to 100. New this year, we have a Child VIP bag for $5, and it’s got lots of fun stuff, from a lollipop to a slap bracelet to a sticker coloring book, and is limited to 20. All are welcome to our events, and no one is ever turned away. Festival-goers, please BYOB (Bring your own bags or bottles). Composting is encouraged, and recycling bins will be available for non-compostable items.
