Knoxville’s beloved series of festive events known as Christmas in the City began Friday, Nov. 18, with Comcast Christmas at Chilhowee at Chilhowee Park.

Comcast Christmas at Chilhowee marks Santa’s local premiere! After the official tree-lighting ceremony, Santa will take pictures with kids at the park’s historic bandstand. Guests can also make crafts with The Muse, enjoy treats from Krispy Kreme and Kilwin’s, and take hayrides around the park and Lake Ottosee, which will be lighted for the holidays.





Comcast Christmas at Chilhowee hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is free, and the event will happen rain or shine.

Plan to join your neighbors at all the Christmas in the City events:

Regal Celebration of Lights - Friday, Nov. 25, 5:15 - 9 p.m., Market Square, Krutch Park Extension, and Market Street





On the day after Thanksgiving, the Holidays on Ice open-air skating rink opens during the day on Market Square, then in the evening we’ll gather for the ceremonial lighting of downtown’s new Christmas tree. The fun starts with live music and activities at 5:15 p.m. followed by special guest appearances and the tree lighting at 6 p.m. Evelyn Jack will perform on the Market Square stage at 6:30 p.m.


WIVK Christmas Parade - Friday, Dec. 2, 7 p.m., Gay Street

Bands, dancers, lighted floats, classic vehicles, costumed characters and Santa Claus himself join this jolly annual procession down Gay Street.


Tour de Lights - Saturday, Dec. 10

This all-ages holiday bicycle ride, presented by Bike Walk Knoxville and Visit Knoxville, will begin at Suttree Landing Park and end at Market Square.


New Year’s Eve at the Sunsphere - Saturday, Dec. 31; Ring in the New Year with a fun, all-ages celebration on World’s Fair Park with a DJ, live band and ball drop at midnight.
