Alcatraz East Crime Museum celebrates National Police Week with free admission for officers

PIGEON FORGE, TN – October 13-17, 2021 is National Police Week, putting the spotlight on the nearly 655,000 officers in the country, making it a great time to put the spotlight those who help keep the country safer. To celebrate the week, Alcatraz East Crime Museum will be offering free admission for all law enforcement officers, and half off of admission for guests who accompany them. The free admission promotion will be honored all week long.

"We would love for law enforcement officers to bring their families and check out the crime museum," says Summer Blalock, manager for Alcatraz East. "We are grateful for their service and this is our way of giving back.”

In addition to the free admission, officers will be able to get a free 5x7 image and receive a gift from the museum (both while supplies last). To receive the free admission, officers will need to show their identification or current pay stub. This offer cannot be combined with any other discount offers.

The admission will provide full access to the museum and all of the exhibits. In addition to the popular white Bronco that OJ Simpson was in during the famous chase, there are many other areas of highlight. The museum currently has a two-year exhibit on Ted Bundy, who was originally caught through a traffic stop. Those who visit the exhibit will be able to learn about the case, as well as see real artifacts, as well as see his actual car that is on display.

The museum offers an in-depth look at the history of crime in the country, as well as fun interactive experiences, such as a jail cell, police line-up, and more. Visitors will learn about crime and crime prevention when it comes to pop culture, counterfeiting, and the consequences of crime. The museum’s interactive CSI-related programs feature observation skills, personality tests, blood splatter analysis and deciphering Morse code. There is also an emphasis on crime fighting, putting the spotlight on local police officers, famous people in law enforcement, and agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigations. There is currently a temporary exhibit on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations, which shares information about the important work they do in the state.

"This is going to be a great week and we look forward to seeing many law enforcement officers stroll through the museum," added Blalock.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are nearly 655,000 police and sheriff’s officers in the country. Their job is to maintain order, protect life and property, investigate accidents, apprehend and arrest suspects, and serve legal processes in courts.

Museum hours are currently 10 am to 9 pm daily. The museum is cashless, so tickets can be purchased ahead of time online, or through non-cash options at the ticket booth. The last tickets are sold 60 minutes before closing. These interactive experiences are available to birthday parties, school groups, scouts, and team building, or other special events for an additional fee.
