Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries, a national retro-themed diner chain, has opened its newest location in Knoxville. The new restaurant is located at 10826 Hardin Valley Rd.

Hwy 55 is a diner with a full menu of American classics served in a fun, 1950’s dining atmosphere. It features fresh, never frozen, hand-pattied hamburgers, cheesesteak sandwiches, salads and a wide variety of milkshakes and frozen custards. Each location features a unique open kitchen in which customers can watch their meals being prepared. The restaurant is owned by Knoxville resident William Hamilton. It is the fourth Hwy 55 restaurant owned by Hamilton and the third in the Knoxville metro area. He opened a Hwy 55 restaurant at 9314 Kingston Pike in Knoxville in late December and another location in the West Town Mall in January. Hamilton also owns a Hwy 55 restaurant in Oak Ridge, which he opened in October 2018.

“Hardin Valley is an ideal location for Hwy 55, with rapid growth to the area and many nearby schools, including Pellissippi State Community College,” said Hamilton. “We are excited to be an addition to the community and we believe our customers will love the great quality food and excellent service we provide at Hwy 55.”

Hwy 55 opened its first restaurant in Goldsboro, NC in 1991. The newest restaurant opening in the Hardin Valley will mark its ninth location in the state of Tennessee.
