Calling children of all ages! Santa is coming to town

SEYMOUR, TN – Seymour Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) announces Santa’s upcoming tour around the Seymour community on Christmas Eve. The event will take place from 5-9 p.m. during the SVFD Christmas Eve Santa Run. Santa will be escorted by SVFD firefighters and volunteers on Christmas Eve to reach as many children and families in the community as possible before he takes his flight around the world.

To best help families plan for Santa, we have published a schedule of approximate times and locations Santa can be spotted throughout the night. Please help keep Santa moving through Seymour us by knowing when Santa will pass by your home, listening for the SVFD sirens and looking for lights when Santa is scheduled to be in your area. You can even meet us at your driveway if your child wants to speak to Santa. The quicker Santa moves throughout the community the more children he will be able to visit and keep to his tight schedule.

For those not on the designated route Santa can also be found at Station 1, located at 101 Ford Hill Lane. Children can stop here for a photo and a Christmas wish with Santa. For this event, Station 1 is transformed into the North Pole and community members can stop by, as holiday schedules allow, between 6-8:30 pm. This is a great alternative for those wanting to see Santa, but not in the designated route.

We do ask that families keep in mind that this is an approximate schedule and that our volunteers will be doing their best to keep as close to the scheduled times as possible. There are seven Santa routes this year. Please check to see if Santa will be near you. Remember, these are the estimated routes and times. It is SVFD’s goal to meet them, however, weather and emergency calls may hinder this schedule.

SVFD has been partnering with Santa Claus for 40+ years, helping him deliver Christmas cheer and the message of fire prevention on Christmas Eve. SVFD is able to continue this Seymour tradition because of the support of community volunteers, donations and event sponsors. The 2018 Santa Run has been made possible by the following sponsors: Realty Executives Advantage- Wanda Hendryx, Marty Loveday & Associates Real Estate & Auction, Seymour- Rod Davis, and Re/Max Preferred Properties, Inc., Seymour- Teresa Luttrell.

“The SVFD Santa Run is an important Seymour tradition that we are proud to continue today. Just like our community and department have grown, so has the Santa Run. It takes countless volunteer hours, planning and community support to escort Santa on his busiest night of the year,” says Elaina DeLozier, Development Director. “Seeing the magic of Christmas alive in the eyes of children, of all ages, is what the event is all about! Our founding members started this tradition and now we are proud to continue to host it for generation after generation to enjoy.”

If you would like to learn more about SVFD and how you can help make a difference in the community visit www.SeymourVFD.com or call 865-851-1157. When you support SVFD you are helping yourself and your neighbors before a crisis. The money given to SVFD, through special events, individual or business contributions ensures that we will be there when crisis hits, and you need us the most providing fire, EMS, and rescue services to the community.
