Knox Asian Festival holds poster contest

The Knox Asian Festival is hosting its annual poster contest. Graphic artists are sought to create an exciting image to become part of the personality for the 4th Annual Asian Festival to be held on Sunday, August 27 at Market Square.

The winning artwork will be featured in a wide-scale multi-media marketing campaign, Social media ads, newspaper ads and products for Festival. The winner will also earn a $50 grand prize. All entries will be posted at

The Knox Asian Festival gathers all communities from different Asian Counties in EAST TN, and enables cross-cultural interaction through sharing of cultures, promoting Asian inspired arts and crafts vendors, creation of innovative programs and entertaining activities for visitors and participants.

“The poster contest is a great opportunity for any up-and-coming artist to have his or her work showcased in such a large scale and meaningful way," "We're looking for a creative and eye-catching design that will capture the spirit of heritage and community."

The competition is open to professional and amateur artists.

Artworks must be 2-D. All media (painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, photography, graphic design, fiber art) are accepted.

All entries must be an original design by the entrant, not an adaptation of another artist’s design, and conceived for reproduction as an 16 x 20 inch poster at 3000 x 2000 pixels. Artwork needs to be at least 11x 17.

Entries should creatively reflect the culture and arts, while embracing the spirit of Asian Culture. Entries may also include the name of the event (4th Knox Asian Festival) in the artwork.

All artwork must be original in design and execution. No reproductions or copies of another artist’s work will be considered.

Use of trademarked brands or images is prohibited.

Contestant agrees to fully indemnify the 4th Knox Asian Festival for the Arts for copyright infringement whether known or unknown by submission of other people’s work.

Knox Asian Festival will add Sponsor Logos on the art; think the space for Sponsor Logos on the bottom.

Limit of (2) entries per person

Artists must submit entries as a editable digital file for us. Submissions can be made via email to or via US mail to Asian Culture Center of TN, P.O. Box 31793, Knoxville TN 37930. Entries will also be accepted in person; call 831-241-1189.

All submissions must be received by Saturday, March 4, 2017.

All artwork will become the property of Asian Culture Center of TN, and by submitting artwork for this competition, the artist agrees to release all rights for use of the original artwork and digital and printed reproductions of all or part of the artwork to Asian Culture Center of TN.

Hardcopy of entries will not be returned.

Asian Culture Center of TN reserves the right to alter the final design of the winning artwork to fit its needs or to reject all submissions for the final poster and marketing campaign. The Knox Asian Festival also reserves the right to publicly display entries before and during the Festival.

Entries will be judged and finalists selected during the week of March 11th, 2017. The winning artists will receive a cash prize of $50 and will have their artwork displayed at the Festival. Second and Third Place finalists have their artwork displayed at the Festival.

Entrants will be notified of their status via email no later than Friday, March 25, 2017.
