Knoxville musician/educator/entrepreneur, Jeff Comas, releases debut book

With almost 30 years of experience as a musician, educator, and business owner, Jeff Comas has published his debut book, Your Guide to Music Lessons, a fun and easy-to-read guide to music education, and a must-read for anyone with an interest in learning music. A limited number of advanced copies are currently available at the Knoxville Academy of Music, where Mr. Comas is the Director. When asked about why he produced the book, he responded “Many people have asked me questions about taking music lessons, such as: What are the benefits of music lessons? How much should my child practice? What instrument should we start with? It seemed a natural next step for me; to provide people with a resource to answer these kinds of questions, and reveal qualities to look for when choosing a music lesson provider.”

Comas first became well known in Knoxville in the early 80s, as the leader of the Candy Creme group, a popular New-Wave band known for high-energy shows and tight vocal harmonies. He has toured the US, Canada & Puerto Rico, and has shared stages with such notables as the Stray Cats, the Romantics, Iggy Pop, and many more. Comas studied with many of the world’s top music educators, and first started teaching music in 1989. He opened his first school of music in 1998, and his schools have given over 250,000 music lessons.

The Knoxville Academy of Music, located at 11230 Kingston Pike, is family owned and oriented. In 2016, the Academy was recognized by CityView Magazine’s Best of the Best, the Knoxville Awards Program, and as Top Music School in the Knoxville Mercury. In 2015 the academy was a finalist in the International MCE School of the Year competition. Comas has received four Faith, Belief, & Action awards from the Music Academy Success program. The Knoxville Academy of Music has the largest selection of instructors, a professional office staff, and serves hundreds of area families every week.
