Inspiration and materials for UT Sculpture Program students

University of Tennessee Sculpture Program students Shane Coe and Marisa Mitchell search for inspiration and materials at steel recycler Gerdau’s scrap yard Feb. 20. The students will unveil new works of art using these materials at the launch of the Art of Recycling sculpture exhibition April 1. The free exhibition, a partnership among Gerdau, the UT Sculpture Program and Dogwood Arts, runs April 1-17 at the Knoxville Convention Center.
 


On Feb. 20, UT Sculpture Program students gained inspiration and materials for new works of art at steel recycler Gerdau’s scrap yard in Lonsdale. The students will create sculptures made of the materials found that day. Their artwork will be unveiled at the annual Art of Recycling art exhibition on April 1.
