To advance to the Nationals, competitors must secure Gold or Silver Awards in two previous tiers of competition, the local and regionals. At the first tier, local entrants compete to win the honor of best creatives in their market. At the regional level, the local ADDY winners compete against their fellow local winners across the country in one of 15 district competitions. The Gold and Silver winners then move to the National Competition, where they compete against the best of the best in the nation. At every round, the work is judged by panels of professionals in the advertising industry.

In this year’s local SunCoast ADDY Awards and district awards, Ringling College students and the Design Center brought home over 40 awards, including Best in Show and the Judge’s Award in the student category and a Judge’s Award and Amy Award in the professional category, among numerous Gold and Silver awards in each.

The American Advertising Awards, formerly the ADDYs, is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting over 40,000 entries every year in local competitions. The mission of the American Advertising Awards competition is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.

Ringling College of Art offers the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in eleven disciplines and the Bachelor of Arts in two. The College’s rigorous curriculum employs the studio model of teaching and immediately engages students through a comprehensive, first-year program that is both specific to the major of study and focused on the liberal arts.
