Arts in the Airport exhibition presents works of 40 artists

McGhee Tyson Airport is once again featuring “Arts in the Airport” - an art exhibition of selected artwork from 40 artists in the East Tennessee region. The Arts & Culture Alliance and the Knoxville Metropolitan Airport Authority partner to present the exhibition.

The 2016 exhibition features selected artwork from 40 artists in the East Tennessee region. “Arts in the Airport” was created to allow regional artists to compete and display work in the most visited site in the area. The current exhibition features works celebrating “The Smoky Mountain Air Show” (April 16-17) and the City of Knoxville’s 225th Anniversary. The contemporary 2- and 3-dimensional artwork is exhibited in the secured area behind McGhee Tyson Airport’s security gate checkpoint through September 21, 2016.

Juror Terri Jordan of the Customs House Museum in Clarksville says “I first look for works that have a pleasing composition; that draw me in. I then look at technique, and if there is a sense of flow or movement. I feel that my selections are strong representations to their mediums. It was a pleasure to be able to see the show installed and how well the themes fit together. East Tennessee has some very talented artists.”
