Arts & Culture Alliance’s 10th National Juried Exhibition set for February 5-26

The Arts & Culture Alliance will hold its 10th annual National Juried Exhibition February 5-26, 2016 in the Balcony gallery of the Emporium Center in downtown Knoxville.

The exhibition will feature selected works from 48 artists in the Southeast region and will encompass all styles and genres from both emerging and established artists working in a variety of media such as photography, acrylic, pencil, copper, fibers, oil, paper, stoneware, and more. Most of the works are for sale and may be purchased through the close of the exhibition.

A public reception will take place on Friday, February 5, from 5:00-9:00 PM with a brief awards ceremony at 6:00 PM in which over $1,000 in cash awards will be announced. The First Friday reception will include a flamenco dance performance by Pasión Flamenco from 6:00-6:30 PM in the Black Box Theatre and a Jazz Jam Session hosted by Vance Thompson and Friends from 7:00-9:00 PM in the Black Box Theatre. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be available and chocolate fondue will be provided by the Melting Pot of Knoxville.

Serving as juror for the exhibition was Samantha Andrews, an art educator and east Tennessee native who believes in the power of art to change lives. Andrews works closely with the artist community in Nashville. She is currently Assistant Director of Experiential Learning at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts and is a two-time Emmy® Award winner for the television series ArtQuest: Art is All Around You. Samantha has acted as guest juror in regional competitions and as speaker at national conferences for the American Alliance of Museums and the National Arts Education Association.
