Fountain City Art Center warms up the Winter season
Warming up the Winter season, the Fountain City Art Center kicks off its first big event of the year with its 4th annual theme show from January 16 to February 12.
The show features open entry for all artists 18 years and up. Both 2-D and 3-D artwork will be accepted for the exhibit. The entries must demonstrate this year’s theme: “East Tennessee Treasures.” Each artist may enter one or two pieces.
Eight cash prizes from $125 to $50 will be awarded by judges Judy Jorden and Rikki Taylor, both excellent artists and former art instructors. The entry fee for non FCAC members is $20 per entry and $15 for FCAC members. (Annual memberships start at $30.) Show entries will be taken on Tuesday, January 13, from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The reception for the exhibit will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Friday, January 16 at the Fountain City Art Center located in the old library building near the Park at 213 Hotel Avenue, Knoxville 37918.
On January 31, the Fountain City Art Center will be holding its 3rd Annual Tasting Party from 4 PM to 6 PM. This event is a favorite because it provides an opportunity to meet new people interested in art or just in sharing great food. Admission is $10 per person with 100% of the proceeds to benefit the Fountain City Art Center by providing for extra high heating bills in the winter and by providing some of the other operational funds needed to support the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The dishes will be prepared by FCAC members; many of the recipes have been featured in FCAC Recipe Books from 2012 and 2013. Guests will be able to choose from soups, salads, meat or vegetable casseroles, breads and desserts and LeGrand Music Studio, will provide guitar music during the event.
