Christmas concert at Fountain City Art Center

Saturday evening, December 5, patrons at the Fountain City Art Center were treated to an amazing
Christmas Concert performed by instructors and associates of LeGrand Music Studio. Also performing
were members of the Fountain City Community Choir, formed by Andy LeGrand and voice instructor and
choir director Jackie Brecheen earlier this year. Andy and staff held the concert to benefit the Art Center.
LeGrand Music Studio has been holding concerts and teaching music lessons at the Center for over four
years now.
The wide range of instruments utilized by instructors during the concert enhanced the performance
dramatically: Three guitarists, John Wade, David Hickman, and Andy LeGrand; mandolin by Chris Brock;
dulcimer by Deby Libby; violin, cello, and vocals by Julie Belanger Roy; choir direction and vocals by
operatically trained Jackie Brecheen; piano, vocals, and flute by the multi-talented Mindy Harvey.
Over the past few years, Andy has recruited some extremely talented musicians to perform and to
instruct. Age old Christmas carols and more modern pop tunes were beautifully performed, including
“A Ukrainian Christmas Carol,” “In the Bleak Mid Winter,” “O Holy Night,” “My Favorite Things,” and “Have
Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.

LMStudios.org. The choir meets Tuesday evenings at Fountain City Art Center. Music lessons are
available in guitar, piano, voice, violin, mandolin, banjo, dulcimer, clarinet, French horn, and flute. Andy
has contacts for other instrumental lessons as well.
Saturday, December 12, the Fountain City Art Center will host Holiday Art Blitz, a small-gift craft
workshop with seven craft stations to choose from. Crafts include a small handmade book, beaded
bracelets, fabric gift card holders, book marks, tree and gift package ornaments, and a hot chocolate pocket.
The cost of the workshop is $25 to make five craft gifts. The seven stations will be staffed by FCAC instructors
from 10 AM to 5 PM. Each craft takes about 20 to 30 minutes to make. RSVP: fcartcenter@knology.net;

LeGrand Music Studio will provide music during part of the day with an hour lunch break around 12:30 PM. Hot cider and cookies will be served to guests. The Art Center is located at 213 Hotel Avenue in the former library building next to Fountain City Park and just across from Fountain City Methodist Church.
