The Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville and the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (McGhee Tyson Airport) have issued a call to artists for the 15th Arts in the Airport Exhibition. The juried exhibition will have a special theme called “Smoky Mountain Air Show”. The receipt deadline is midnight on Sunday, February 7. Cash prizes include $1,000.

The exhibition allows regional artists to compete and display work in the most visited site in the area. In conjunction with the Smoky Mountain Air Show on April 16-17, 2016, Arts in the Airport welcomes works that have been inspired by the air show. The Air Show’s designated community partner, HonorAir Knoxville, is a nonprofit organization that takes World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials built in their honor. Interested artists are encouraged to submit work for Arts in the Airport that has been especially created in response to the air show. For more information, visit www.smokymountainairshow.com.

Approximately 40-45 fine art works encompassing all styles and genres from both emerging and established artists will comprise the exhibition in the secured area behind McGhee Tyson Airport’s security gate checkpoint from March 17 – October 12, 2016. Click here to download the prospectus (PDF), or view the information online.

Terri Jordan is the exhibit’s curator of the Customs House Museum in Clarksville, Tennessee.

The entry fee is $30 for up to five works (FREE for Arts & Culture Alliance members); the entry fee includes a six-month membership in the Alliance. Entries must be original works in the following categories: Painting, Graphic Arts, Photography, and 3-D. This exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older residing in the 33 counties of East Tennessee.
