KNOXVILLE — The next concert in the Jazz Lunch series will take place on Wednesday,
March 5th, from noon to 1pm at the Square Room. Admission to the concert
is $15 and includes a lunch buffet served up by Café 4. Tickets are
available online at www.knoxjazz.org or by visiting Café 4 in
person prior to the show. The Jazz Lunch performance will feature
Tribute to Mulgrew Miller with pianist Keith Brown.
Pianist Mulgrew Miller was one of the most revered figures in modern jazz.
Miller attended Memphis State in the 1970s with fellow pianists Donald
Brown and James Williams, then followed them to the Northeast, landing
jobs with legendary bandleaders like Art Blakey, Woody Shaw and Tony
Williams. In recent years, Miller had worked more and more as a
bandleader himself, leading trios as well as a quintet he called Wingspan.
Millers untimely death in the summer of 2013 shocked and saddened the
jazz world. Join pianist Keith Brown and his group as they pay tribute to
one of our modern masters.
Special thanks to WUOT 91.9 FM, The Square Room, and Weird Monkey Studios
for support of the Jazz Lunch Series.
