Tennessee Winter Beer Fest kicks off in Townsend February 8, 2014

Sponsored by the South College Professional Brewing Science certificate program, the third annual Tennessee Winter Beer Fest will be held on Saturday, February 8 at the Laurel Valley Country Club in Townsend.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the New Hope Blount County Children’s Advocacy Center.

“The Tennessee Winter Beer Festival gives our students the opportunity to connect with local breweries and provides the community an opportunity to help the worthy cause of helping to prevent child abuse,” said Todd White, program director of the South College Professional Brewing Science.

“Now in its third year, the festival will be a fun time for beer enthusiasts to celebrate the seasonal brews and the future of the industry.”

Activities will include selections from nine Tennessee breweries, games, live music, food provided by Miss Lily’s Café and a silent auction. Tickets are available for $50 at the Market in Maryville, the Casual Pint, Miss Lily’s Café and Saw Works Brewing Company. Designated driver tickets are also available for $30. The event will be held from 3 to 9 p.m.

The Professional Brewing Science Certificate program prepares students for successful employment in the brewing profession with a combination of classroom work and hands-on experience in a brewing facility.
