Get your romance on at the Tennessee Theatre on First Friday

KNOXVILLE — For more than 85 years, the Tennessee Theatre has been a destination for love in Knoxville from first dates to weddings. To honor that tradition, the theater will open its doors for a free Valentine’s Day-themed open house on Friday, Feb. 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

“Since 1928, the Tennessee Theatre has held a deep emotional attachment for Knoxvillians who have shared countless memories with loved ones in this beautiful building,” said Tennessee Theatre interim Executive Director Becky Hancock. “We invite guests to come in and relive those memories, as well as create new memories with those they love.”

House organist Bill Snyder will play classic love songs on the Mighty Wurlitzer, and tours of the backstage areas of the historic theatre will leave from the lobby every half hour during the open house.

While guests are waiting for tours to begin, a professional photo booth stocked with Valentine’s Day-themed props and costumes will be set up so visitors can take candid pictures with their loved ones, whether friends, family or a significant other.

Whether it’s a date or a night out with friends, the Tennessee Theatre welcomes First Friday guests to experience why the Tennessee Theatre is one of Knoxville’s top destinations for romance and fun.

“The Tennessee Theatre is an asset that belongs to all of us,” Hancock said. “The theatre remains the vibrant, thriving building it is today because of the support of this community, and we want to take this opportunity to open the doors for our supporters to enjoy the historic landmark they helped preserve.”
