Knoxville Jazz Orchestra presents 21st Century Trombone with Michael Dease
The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra's 14th anniversary 2013-14 concert season
continues on Tuesday, January 21st at 8pm with 21st Century Trombone and
Michael Dease. The program will be held at the Square Room on Market
Square, located at 4 Market Square, next door to the Tomato Head.
Dease, one of today’s brightest young stars, beautifully
illustrates how tradition and innovation can peacefully coexist every time
he picks up his horn. Combining soulful warmth with heart-stopping
thunder, Dease is widely regarded as a new giant of the trombone. Bassist
Christian McBride declared that Michael’s playing should be considered
illegal. His jaw-dropping abilities will be on full display as he
propels the KJO through a musical panorama combining old and new.
The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra is a 17 piece big band comprised of
professional musicians from across the region. Since its inception in
1999, the orchestra has performed dozens of concerts in East Tennessee,
appeared on major jazz festivals in Europe, performed and recorded with
internationally acclaimed guest artists, and released four critically
acclaimed CD recordings.
Tickets for the event are $32.00 adult, $15.00 student. Tickets are
available in advance at www.knoxjazz.org or by visiting Café 4 at 4
Market Square.
