KNOXVILLE — Knoxville, TN and Asheville, NC favorites, The Get Right Band, are bringing their high energy live show back to Knoxville. They will be performing at Jig and Reel on March 29 and 10:00 pm. There is no admission charge. The Get Right Band is one of Relix Magazine’s “On The Verge” picks and The Alternate Root calls the group “hip-shaking, earthquaking pure funk fun.” Combining catchy, clever songwriting with musical expertise and fearless improvisation, The Get Right Band’s live performance promises to make you shake everything you’ve got. From funk to rock n’ roll to reggae, this is a dance party. This is a booty shaking good time.

The Band is built on the musical brotherhood that guitarist/singer Silas Durocher and bassist Jesse Gentry have formed playing music together since middle school. With the addition of JC Mears, a powerful and dynamic drummer, the group’s sound has become an unstoppable force. The Get Right Band has been touring the East Coast and the Caribbean heavily since their inception in April, 2011. The band has rocked hard and jammed relentlessly every step of the way. “We’re always trying to be better, to top ourselves,” says Gentry.

2014 is already shaping up to be The Get Right Band’s busiest and most exciting year yet. Between performances at major festivals (such as FloydFest), tours with national acts, a packed calendar, and a new, full-length album in the works, the momentum is building rapidly.

2013 saw the release of The Get Right Band’s debut CD, Shake. Hittin’ The Note Magazine says the disc is “fun, full of energy and excitement, and should be listened to with the volume turned all the way up.” The rock n’ roll album features stripped down but creatively layered and produced performances of the band’s original tunes. It’s “groove with rock melodies built on funk attitudes,” says The Mountain Xpress.

The Get Right Band consists of Silas Durocher (guitar/vocals), Jesse Gentry (bass/vocals), and JC Mears (drums/percussion/vocals). The members of the band have played with many of the East Coast’s favorite acts, including Laura Reed and Deep Pocket, Woody Wood, Josh Phillips, The Artimus Pyle Band, Scrappy Hamilton (now Truth & Salvage Company), Afromotive, and Royal Trux (Virgin Records), and have shared the stage with national acts such as Galactic, The Victor Wooten Band, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, New Orleans Suspects (featuring members of James Brown’s band, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and The Neville Brothers), Jeff Coffin’s Mutet, Larry Keel, and Bobby Lee Rodgers.

Their album, Shake, can be purchased on iTunes or at www.cdbaby.com/cd/thegetrightband. For photos, videos, or additional information about The Get Right Band, please visit www.thegetrightband.com or email thegetrightband@gmail.com.
