The Fountain City Art Center (FCAC) is kicking off the new year in style with a magnificent display of watercolor paintings from the Knoxville Watercolor Society members.

If the paintings sent in for the invitation are any indication of the level of expertise to be expected from this show, then everyone is in for a treat. The reception will be from 6:30 – 8:00 PM on Friday, January 10. The show will be on exhibit, free to the viewing public as always, through February 14.

Would you say “No!” if 20 or more of the best cooks you know offered to feed you and your friends and family a sumptuous meal in congenial surroundings with the beautiful notes of guitar music gently wafting over you, all for just $10 per person? Of course you wouldn’t!!! It follows, then, that you should mark your calendars NOW for 3 – 5 PM, Saturday, January 25, 2014 for the Center’s tasting party, “Try This!”

This annual event is well attended. Food served includes four or five soups, a dozen or more casseroles, desserts, breads, salads, and more! Recipes from the Center’s first cookbook provide the menu and volunteers do the cooking. Andy LeGrand and friends will again play classical guitar.

Copies of the FCAC Recipe Book Volume II will be available for purchase. To attend the tasting party, “Try This,” please email the Director at fcartcenter@knology.net or call after January 6: (865) 357-2787.

If you haven’t started creating a masterpiece for the theme show, “Illumination,” you still have plenty of time! This year’s theme show will be from February 21 through March 21, 2014.

Artwork following the theme “Illumination” should be brought to the Center from 9:30 AM to 5 PM on Tuesday, February 18 and will be judged on Wednesday, February 19.

The reception will be held from 6:30 – 8:00 PM on Friday, Feb. 21 with awards announced at 7:00 PM. You can enter 2-D or 3-D works as long as you are illustrating some clear aspect of the theme.

This show is open to all artists.
