Art-a-palooza in the Heart of Fountain City

Artists Bob Meadows and Jim Gentry will be performing art demonstrations during Art-a-palooza.

All artists and crafts persons are encouraged to contact the Fountain City Art Center to reserve a booth space to sell their original artwork and to perform demonstrations of their skills during Art-a-palooza, September 20, 2014, 10:30 am to 4:30 pm. Outdoor booth spaces are $25. For more details and an application for a booth space, you may contact the Center by phone at (357) 357-2787, by email at fcartcenter@knology.net or stop by the center at 213 Hotel Avenue 37918 next to Fountain City Park. Hours are: Tu, Th 9-5; W, F 10-5; (most non-event Saturdays 9-1, but call first to see if a volunteer is on duty) .

Art-a-palooza is the Fountain City Art Center’s fabulous fall fundraiser, now in its 10th year. The Art Center will be holding indoor sales Thursday through Saturday, September 18-20. Artists will be demonstrating all three days. Original paintings, valuable prints, frames, art supplies, pottery, jewelry, glassware, and decorative items will be on sale for bargain prices, along with a few small household items, all donated by Center members and area artists. Many decorations for the major holidays will be available. There will also be a 3-day Silent Auction. Home baked goods will be on sale all three days.

Saturday, September 20 from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm is Family Day with interactive art activities booths for all ages. Seven art activities booths will be set up for children, hosted by Central High School National Art Honor Society students. Family passes good for all activities are $10 and individual passes are $5. Admission to the event is free for browsing.

Several musical groups will be playing on the grounds between 11:30 am and 4:30 pm. Musicians will be Andy LeGrand on the guitar and Chris Brock on the mandolin, and two-time National Dulcimer Champion, Tim Simek in the line-up. Food booths will be selling crepes, chili, and hot dogs.
