Jazz Lunch at the Square Room: A Tribute to Rosemary Clooney
The Square Room, in partnership with the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra and WUOT
91.9FM, is now hosting a Jazz Lunch series on the first Wednesday of each
month from noon to 1:00 pm. Each month's concert will pay tribute to a
different historical figure whose music made a lasting impact on jazz.
Admission to the concert is $15 and includes a lunch buffet served up by
Café 4. Tickets are available online at www.knoxjazz.org or by
visiting Café 4 in person prior to the show.
The next concert in the series will take place on Wednesday, October 2nd,
from noon to 1:00 pm. This special Jazz Lunch performance features A Tribute
to Rosemary Clooney with vocalist Kayley Farmer. Musicians Vance
Thompson (trumpet), Jason Day (piano), Jay Farmer (bass), Martin Whitaker
(drums), and Chad Volkers (guitar) will join Ms. Farmer for this exciting
performance.
Vocalist Rosemary Clooney's remarkable career spanned six decades,
beginning in the 1940s with Tony Pastor's big band and continuing until
her death in 2002. This special tribute will cover material ranging from
her early days with Columbia Records, her success with Bing Crosby in the
film "White Christmas," her collaborations with icons such as Duke
Ellington, Harry James, Benny Goodman, Nelson Riddle and her 1970s
comeback with Concord Records.
Special thanks to WUOT 91.9 FM, The Square Room, and Weird Monkey Studios
for support of the Jazz Lunch Series.
