Second Harvest Food Bank and Boomsday fight hunger in East Tennessee

MARYVILLE, TN – Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee and the 2013 Boomsday Festival have joined forces to raise funds to feed over 100,000 hungry East Tennesseans during the Boomsday Festival today on Neyland Drive.

Second Harvest Food Bank is asking everyone who is coming to Boomsday to bring one extra dollar.

Stop by the Second Harvest Food Bank booth, drop off one dollar and receive a Glow in the Dark Boomsday armband, a sticker that says “I fed three people today,” and a coupon for a Free Small Fry and Small Drink with the purchase of a 5 piece Hand Breaded Chicken Tenders™ compliments of your local Hardee’s ®.

Second Harvest is honored to partner with the Boomsday Festival and hopes everyone will get involved in trying to eliminate hunger in the 18 counties that Second Harvest serves.

“1 in 5 adults, and 1 in 4 children, are at risk of going hungry. By the time the fireworks go off, I know we will be celebrating raising enough funds to feed everyone in Neyland Stadium. Thanks to everyone for supporting Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee,” said Elaine Streno Executive Director.

For more information on how you can get involved in hunger-relief programs, to volunteer, or to make a donation, call Second Harvest Food Bank at (865) 521-0000 or visit www.secondharvestetn.org.
