Country Market at Historic Ramsey House this Friday
By Jeaneane Payne

Historic Ramsey House will have its 48th Annual Country Market this Friday, September 22, 2012.

Antique dealers will make their way to the market to showcase many antiques. Music, entertainment, and arts & crafts will keep market goers busy. A classic car show is expected to be a featured event.

You will have an opportunity to see a hand pieced reproduction Civil War quilt made by Mildred Dugan. The quilt will be raffled off in December during Ramsey House's Candlelight Tour of the home.

While the aroma of great Wallace bar-b-que fills the air, market goers can also enjoy old fashion cobblers and Mrs. Ramsey's hot dogs, beans, and corn bread served hot from the kitchen.

The market will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 2614 Thorn Grove Pike in Knoxville.

Ramsey House was built in 1797 for Francis Alexander Ramsey and his family. Col. Ramsey was one of the founding fathers of the Knoxville area and played and important roll in the establishment of religion, education and government. Historic Ramsey House was known at the time as the "finest home" in Tennessee. Today it stands proud to its tradition and is beautifully decorated with period pieces that can give a visitor a look into the past at how the Ramsey Family lived.

Admission to the event is a $5.00 parking fee. Tours of the home will be conducted by docents in period dress and will be available for $5.00 per person. All proceeds from this event go toward continuing our mission to educate, preserve, and interpret the history and cultural life of early Tennessee and the important role of the Ramsey family.

For more information about participating as a vendor, or registering a classic car call 865-546-0745.
